Many of us have busy lifestyles that leave us with very little free time. Why spend that precious time cleaning out a dirty litter box? Instead, you can invest in a self-cleaning litter box that will cut way back on the amount of time you have to devote to cleaning up after your pet. Here are a couple of the reasons why this type of litter box just makes sense.

First, we all know that a litter box means the presence of some pretty bad odors. The only way to effectively deal with that is to clean the cat box out often, right? Well, not if your cat's liter box is self-cleaning. These wonderful devices come with sensors that trigger a cleaning process when your cat steps out of the litter box. A small comb sweeps the hard waste into a compartment, where it is stored until you have time to clean the box. Just about all of these types of litter boxes recommend that you use crystals instead of clay litter. The reason for that is the clay will often clump, making it harder for the comb to sweep the waste into the compartment.

Another perk of the self-cleaning cat litter box is that it is very effective in containing odors. The silica crystals help to absorb liquid, eliminating the strong ammonia scent of cat urine immediately. The hard waste also has the liquid extracted by the crystals, which kills the odor from the waste. This means you can go away for a long weekend or even a business trip that lasts a few days and not come home to a nasty smelling home or a frustrated cat that has lived with a dirty litter box.

With no odor and a clean area for your cat to return to next time, a litter box that is self cleaning means less work for you and a more pleasant place to practice good hygiene for your cat. Why not visit your local pet store to day and check into one of the self-cleaning cat litter box models in stock? Most pet shops will carry at least three or more types that you can choose from, as well as some larger models that will accommodate some of the bigger breeds of cats. Once you have given the self-cleaning models a trey, you may find this type of litter box to be ideal for you and your cat.

Cats most certainly require litter boxes in which they feel comfortable and will like using. Most litter box problems can be avoided by understanding the basic nature of the cat and its needs. It is much easier to prevent inappropriate ********* in cats than to deal with problems should they occur later.

It may be a misconception that cats use litter boxes instinctively though they are more likely to eliminate in soft soil or sand. Litter boxes including large cat litter boxes are a convenience that accommodates cats, though one will find the cat being weak in its desire to eliminate while using a litter box.

Most Litter Boxes Tend to Be Too Small

A large cat litter box is recommended, and it is a fact that most cat boxes tend to be too small and are designed for convenience of humans, and not for felines. A large cat litter box should be at least two feet wide and long. It is possible to make a large cat litter box at home, and an under-bed storage box for sweaters would be adequate to create one.

The LitterMaid Mega Self-Cleaning litter box is a good example of the large cat litter box, and it has a sturdy removable ramp that supports very large and heavy cats, and also helps catch litter that is scattered about the box. It also provides sufficient privacy for the cat, which is something that every cat loves.

Another large cat litter box one can consider using for the cat is the one sold by Omega Paw that is easy to use, self-cleaning, cleans quickly, controls dust, and is sanitary as well. The large size of this cat litter box allows for paw cleaning with a litter mat and measures is 20”x23”x19.

Still another large cat litter box that will keep the cat happy is the one sold by Petmate which takes litter care out of the cat owner’s hand and has an extra large waste box capacity and is certainly large, measuring 26.8”x16.5”x4”.

Selecting a large cat litter box is probably the most important purchase a cat owner can make for his or her cat that will ensure the cat’s health and well-being. A litter box that is of adequate size should be large enough to accommodate the cat so as to avoid accidents as well as help develop good litter box habits.
